One step before the first open

The Preview isn’t notarised yet: it’s with Apple for review, and they’re taking their time. Until it’s through, macOS blocks it the first time. Clearing that takes a few seconds, once.

  1. Open the downloaded file and drag TurnPanel onto Applications.
  2. Open Terminal and run this:
    Terminal
    $ xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/TurnPanel.app
  3. Open TurnPanel from Applications as usual.

Rather not use Terminal? Try to open TurnPanel once, then go to System Settings, Privacy & Security, and choose Open Anyway.

TurnPanel 1 / Concepts

Automations

An Automation starts work when a chosen event happens.

Updated 2026-09-12View as Markdown

When to automate

Use an Automation for work that should run later, repeat, or react to an event. Use a background process for long-running work that starts now in the current Job.

Events that can start an Automation

  • A scheduled time or TurnPanel starting.
  • A Job, process, or Script finishing.
  • An action in an App or a change to shared data.

Actions

An Automation can start or continue a Job, run a saved Script, or show a notification. Scheduled times work only while TurnPanel is running, and missed times may not run after the computer wakes or TurnPanel restarts.
